Day 526- Bisbee, AZ

Discovering a couple of lesser-known destinations, Sonoita and Bisbee, AZ. Unfortunately, Sonoita has limited offerings. On the other hand, Bisbee is a quaint old copper mining town. The temperature has been a consistent 75 degrees.

Located in Bisbee, Arizona. The Shady Dell Vintage Trailer Court has been a sought after destination in Southern Arizona for over 3 decades. Friday, Saturday and Sundays, Dot’s Diner serves up savorous breakfast dishes, mouthwatering burgers, and creamy, delicious shakes and more. Whether you stay a night, weekend, or week, The Shady Dell welcomes you.

Lowell, Arizona, is best known historically for its tragic role in the Bisbee Deportation of July 12, 1917. During a massive copper miners' strike, the Phelps Dodge mining company, in collusion with the Cochise County Sheriff, used a deputized posse of 2,000 armed men to kidnap 1,300 striking miners and strike supporters from Lowell and Bisbee at gunpoint. The captives were marched to a baseball park, given an ultimatum to sign loyalty oaths to the mine owners, and those who refused were forced into 23 cattle cars. The train was shipped 200 miles into the New Mexico desert and abandoned in Hermanas.
